Thank you very much to everyone who participated in the Braddon Survey 2024.
In 2021 we ran a survey about Braddon – what residents and visitors like, what they don’t like, what needs to be done better, and more. The results of that survey have been vital in helping us to advocate for improvements to the neighbourhood over the past few years.
In 2024, the Braddon Collective ran a follow-up survey to collect comparative data and expand on the set of questions in our previous survey. Thank you to everyone who took part and helped to publicise it. We are very grateful for your response – it helps us to advocate for a better neighbourhood for the thousands of people who call Braddon home, who work here, and who visit to enjoy all it has to offer.
We had 98 respondents, which is a decrease from the 182 who participated in the 2021 survey. Nonetheless, we were able to gather a range of quantitative and qualitative data. We look forward to using these results to help advocate for improvements in our neighbourhood.

Some highlights from the results:
- The most common issue identified is pedestrian paths being cracked, uneven or incomplete (48%). This is a major problem around all of Braddon and is something we would like to see urgent attention to, considering the high numbers of pedestrians across the neighbourhood.
- There has been a significant improvement in whether Braddon feels safe and welcoming for pedestrians – 53.1% in 2024, compared to 24.2% in 2021
- Survey participants reported an improvement in feeling safe to walk around at night in Braddon (66.3% in 2024,compared to 42.3% in 2021)
- A large number of survey participants identified that there were not enough public toilets in Braddon (65.3%)
- A high number of survey participants identified a playground (such as slides and swings) to encourage children to play in Braddon (73.5%)
- The community holds mixed views on the Summernats Braddon Fringe Festival. Many would like to see more regulation of poor behaviour and would like Summernats organisers to take more responsibility for this (66% in 2024, and 65.4% in 2021)
- Many respondents want to see more facilities in Haig Park including children’s playgrounds, dog waste stations, community gardens, water sources for birds and animals, and improved maintenance.
